Welcome scrappers! I’m Julie Ann Shahin, and it’s my first turn at designing a dare for you. We had a lot of first-timers last week which adds to my excitement, I hope to see you back this week along with your friends.
Let’s get last week’s business out of the way first: our Dare #133 winners. It’s my favorite part of being a darer every week looking at each and every layout that is created by YOU. How can I choose just one? So my pick for the first winner is the one that was most topical for me, as well as most daring, because I also got a new hairdo this week. I chose this layout by kresta:
Congratulations ladies ! Just send an email to thedigidares at gmail dot com to claim your prize.
This week’s sponsor:
This week we are so excited to have Dawn of Create Wings as our sponsoring designer! Dawn sells her beautiful designs at Oscraps, and everyone who participates will receive an exclusive coupon to Create Wings!
Now on to this week’s Dare!
Finish this sentence:
“I spend a lot of time online because…”
If digital scrappers are one thing, they are on the computer alot, if not online. I myself love digital scrapbooking because I do spend a lot of time surfing the internet, and it’s easy to be on the web while scrapping too. So whether you spend a lot of time chatting with other scrappers, or on Facebook, or on Ebay, tell us why.
- It must be a two-page layout
-Journaling must be a significant portion of the layout and you must begin with “I spend a lot of time on the computer because…”
-At least two photos or screenshots related to your journaling
-Use an action on one or all your photos
Layouts are due by midnight next Thursday, May 28th.
Here’s some inspiration from the Darers.
Journaling: (list of favorite online sites)
*digishoptalk.com: forums and advertising
*valoriebrown.blogspot.com: my blog for my designs
*funkyplaygrounddesigns.com: my home (designs)
*digidares.com: my 2nd home
*facebook.com: my connection with fellow scrappers, designers, friends, and family
*my private forum: a private hangout for me and my chicas! *ikeagoddess.blogspot.com: freebie hunting
I spend alot of time online anymore. My job requires me to be online to upload my designs, post sales and ads, communicate with fellow designers and scrappers, research, & chat with my chicas! Hanging out with other scrappers and designers on facebook now is a little bit more play than work. Well, designing and scrapping are really play too as I love doing both but the perk is that I get paid for my designs as well. I jump on facebook every single day to chat, check out the latest designs and layouts, check up on friends and family and of course to play games. I have to limit my gaming though or I would get nothing done. My daily routine consists of checking the designer forum at FPD, my private forum, the digi dare forum, the forums at digishoptalk, then I go on facebook to see the latest . Almost every Wednesday I am uploading and setting up new product. Sometimes on Sunday I am doing the same. I also advertise those days and post to my blog or ask my chicas to post for me. I set up my designs for my chicas to get before the public does so they can play. I also check ikeagoddess’ blog daily for freebies. Some of the freebies today are AWESOME! And getting them for free is even better. I try to limit my online use over the weekend because my family is my life and nothing online is better than them. Being a stay at home mom has its blessings and I would not change it for the world. But I do find that being online is my way of connecting to the outside world and getting my fix of adult conversation. LOL! I love that I can keep in touch with family like never before. I hate writing letters and despise talking on the phone so chatting and emailing is the greatest way for me to keep in touch. Do I spend a lot of time online? Yes, I do. But can I just say NO and turn the computer off for the day? Yes, it would be hard but I could do it. Could I for an entire week? No way! I would have major withdrawals. LOL! Someone once said technology is our friend. Somedays I feel it is true. The days that I don’t, I shut the computer off and enjoy my family, my friends, my home, my pets, my Saviour, and my life.
